About the Customer
LINGA is a global technology innovator redefining how restaurants operate through its powerful, cloud-based restaurant operating system. As the first open API platform for a point-of-sale (POS) system tailored to the hospitality industry, LINGA has rapidly become one of the most sophisticated and scalable platforms in its domain. With clients across the globe, LINGA enables restaurants, cafes, and other hospitality businesses to streamline operations, enhance customer service, and adopt next-generation technologies with agility and confidence.
Customer Challenge
As LINGA expanded its international customer base and product capabilities, it encountered multiple IT infrastructure challenges that limited its scalability, performance, and innovation velocity. Key among these challenges were the need for high availability and resilience across its cloud infrastructure, advanced facial recognition capabilities, robust database solutions, and secure CI/CD pipelines to support frequent software deployments.
Additionally, the customer required a containerized microservices architecture to scale their POS application modules independently, along with secure network segmentation and access control for their globally distributed team. Their infrastructure also lacked a unified backup strategy, which posed risks to data durability and disaster recovery. These gaps threatened not only service uptime and operational efficiency but also customer trust in a high-availability industry like hospitality.
Without a comprehensive solution addressing these issues, LINGA faced the risk of deployment bottlenecks, potential security breaches, and limited ability to innovate and roll out new features quickly across regions.
Partner Solution
Onkatec partnered with LINGA to modernize their infrastructure on AWS using a scalable, secure, and automated architecture tailored for high-availability SaaS platforms. The solution focused on four key areas: compute and containerization, machine learning, security and monitoring, and continuous delivery.
To meet LINGA’s need for scalable application management, we containerized their workloads using Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service). This allowed the application components to scale independently, reduce deployment friction, and improve availability. CI/CD pipelines were built using Jenkins, enabling automated and secure delivery workflows integrated directly with EKS and other AWS services.
For database management, we migrated workloads to Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora, leveraging Multi-AZ deployments for high availability, performance, and automated failover. Aurora’s scalability and high throughput capabilities were a strong fit for LINGA’s growing real-time transaction volumes. All critical backups were managed using AWS Backup and stored securely in Amazon S3, ensuring durability and compliance with LINGA’s recovery point objectives.
To fulfill the customer’s request for facial recognition features in their POS system, Amazon Rekognition was integrated with their application. Additionally, Amazon SageMaker was utilized to build and train machine learning models for other advanced analytics features.
On the network and security front, a Multi-AZ VPC architecture was designed with VPN Client connectivity to enable secure remote access. AWS WAF was implemented for web application protection, and Amazon GuardDuty was enabled to continuously monitor and detect potential threats. Access and patch management for Windows-based workloads was automated using AWS Systems Manager, ensuring compliance and operational consistency.
Throughout both the migration and post-deployment phases, Onkatec provided full-cycle support—including infrastructure-as-code delivery, environment validation, knowledge transfer, and post-implementation monitoring—ensuring a smooth, low-risk transition.
Results and Benefits
The solution designed and implemented by Onkatec allowed LINGA to significantly enhance the scalability, security, and operational efficiency of its platform. With containerized workloads running on EKS and CI/CD pipelines powered by Jenkins, LINGA reduced its deployment time by over 60%, enabling faster feature rollouts and updates for their customers.
By leveraging Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora, LINGA benefited from high availability, scalability, and significant performance improvements in their database layer. Aurora’s ability to automatically scale read replicas and deliver low-latency access contributed to a 35% boost in database throughput, supporting the platform’s growing usage without performance degradation.
The use of Amazon Rekognition and SageMaker added AI/ML capabilities that enhanced the user experience and positioned LINGA as a technology leader in the hospitality domain. With GuardDuty, WAF, and Systems Manager, LINGA improved its security posture and compliance readiness, while also reducing manual overhead in patching and access control.
The migration to a managed database architecture and the implementation of a centralized backup strategy significantly improved data availability and resilience, eliminating risks of data loss and reducing recovery times by more than 70%.
Overall, the AWS solution delivered by Onkatec enabled LINGA to confidently scale its operations globally, improve service reliability, and accelerate its innovation roadmap.
