Customer Challenge
Cylana initially operated its services on Docker environments, leveraging a Docker-in-Docker setup for running various security processes. While functional, this approach introduced inefficiencies, including higher operational overhead, suboptimal resource utilization, and difficulties in scaling services for increasing customer demands.
The customer needed a modern, scalable infrastructure that could handle complex workloads, reduce operational complexity, and improve resource efficiency. Additionally, they sought to streamline their deployment processes and eliminate the limitations of their existing architecture, such as the need to manually manage services and limited observability into resource usage.
Partner Solution
To address Cylana’s challenges, we implemented a cloud migration and modernization solution leveraging Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) as the foundation for their infrastructure. This transition streamlined their security operations, optimized resource allocation, and provided a more scalable and resilient architecture.
- Amazon EKS: EKS was deployed as the core orchestration platform, enabling seamless management of their containerized workloads. By automating resource scaling and job scheduling, EKS ensured that Cylana could efficiently handle its security scanning processes without manual intervention.
- AWS CloudWatch: We configured CloudWatch to monitor EKS workloads, providing real-time insights into application health and resource utilization. This improved observability allowed Cylana to proactively address performance bottlenecks and maintain operational stability.
- Amazon ElastiCache: ElastiCache was integrated to optimize caching for their vulnerability scanning modules, enhancing performance and reducing latency for real-time scanning results.
- Relational Database Service (RDS): Cylana’s data storage was migrated to Amazon RDS for high availability, automated backups, and improved database management.
- Other AWS Services:
- ECR: Used to manage Docker images for Cylana’s containerized services.
- Key Management Service (KMS): Implemented for secure key storage and encryption of sensitive data.
- Route 53: Configured for domain name resolution and secure service access.
- VPC: A secure Virtual Private Cloud was created to isolate Cylana’s workloads and protect sensitive data.
The entire solution was deployed using a Terraform-based infrastructure-as-code (IaC) approach, ensuring consistency, repeatability, and scalability across environments.

The migration to Amazon EKS and modernization of Cylana’s infrastructure delivered significant improvements in performance, scalability, and operational efficiency:
